Ron, I think the goal of all the verbiage there was to stress that Judaism involves more than buying Jewish goods and services as a consumer of general goods and services might do. That should not come as a shock to us, but maybe somebody out there has neglected the spiritual dimension to the point that his cost/benefit analysis leaves real spirituality out.
I wish that last piece were written in plain English, because there seems to be an interesting hypothesis in there begging to get out. Maybe someone will translate it.
