It’s a Baal Teshuva’s Job to Rebel Against the Orthodox World – Please don’t try this at home. I guess it depends what you mean by job, rebel and the Orthodox World? A worthwhile read nonetheless from a fellow BT traveler.
A Call for More Rabbinic Collaboration – Communal Rabbis are the most important resource the average Jew has. We need to strengthen them. Let’s make it happen.
Have you seen the 3 Minute Videos at Brevedy? We’ve got some exciting ones coming up. Head over to the website to subscribe to our email our follow us on Twitter.
There is no shortage of discussion here as to which comnmunities, and by implication, which rabbanim, are more attuned to the needs of BTs and their families. Most major Orthodox communities have a rabbinical organization like the Vaad HaRabanim of Queens which serves as the eyes and ears of the rabbinate and the entire Queens Torah observant community.
Instead of saying “BTs are born to rebel,â€
it would be much better if BTs helped to
guide their follow Jews by teaching them
the original Torah sources.
In a small way, that is what I
try to do in my Torah web site:

What is Pop Chassid’s aim, that BT’s should become a self-absorbed, isolated interest group like all the others, or that BT’s should have a respectful, useful two-way interaction with the broader Orthodox world? The chances of successfully dictating to the world from atop a high horse are slim.
